MINUTES OF THE PTA MEETING HELD ON 14 SEPTEMBER 2009 AT 7.30 PM ACTION Present Mrs Hanson, Miss Mason, Helen Briggs, Tina & Lee Dixon, Cath Fox, James Goldsborough, Guinevere & Shenade Mall, Gemma Whelan. Apologies Sue Hawkin, Angela Holmes, Lynn & Tony McPherson, Helen Oates, Mrs Wilkinson. 1. Welcome Mrs Hanson welcomed members to the meeting especially those attending their first meeting whose children had recently started at the school and explained the role of the PTA. 2. Minutes of the Last Meeting and Matters Arising Mrs Hanson went through the minutes of the last meeting held on 22 June and these were accepted as a correct record. Christmas Fair it was still unclear whether the Barclays Sponsorship funding had been received from last years Christmas Fair. Mrs Hanson to check. Summer Fair Mrs Hanson thanked members for their help with the Summer Gala and said that the total amount raised by the event was £2322.64, which will be put towards the school building extension. Mrs Hanson 3. McMillan Coffee Morning 25.09.09 Arrangements for the Macmillan Coffee Morning on 25th September from 8.30 11.00 am were discussed. Volunteers were needed to set up the event on Thursday afternoon (24th Sept) after school. Mrs Mall and Mrs Whelan agreed to help. Helen Briggs said she would purchase juice and biscuits for the event but was unable to help on the day. Cath Fox to purchase milk and to set up and help at the start but is unable to stay for the whole morning. Volunteers were therefore needed to help serve refreshments on the day. Also PTA members were asked if they could encourage other parents to help at such events even if they were unable to commit to being on the PTA Committee. GM/GW HB CF 4. Christmas Fair 3rd December 5.00 6.30 pm Preparations for the Christmas Fair were made as follows:- Raffle Sue Hawkin to be asked if she would co-ordinate this again. Santa Cath to organise. Christmas Tree Mrs Hanson to organise Asian Food it was noted that Jayne Lane had usually organised this but Maria had now left school. Miss Mason said that she would ask Mrs Abassi if she would be prepared to co-ordinate this. Mrs Mall and Mrs Whelan said they could contribute. Jacket Potatoes again it was noted that Sue Brown had usually organised these but Elliott had also now left school. Cath Fox said that she would ask Pam Swain who had previously helped Sue if she would take this on. Help was also needed in setting up the event on the Thursday afternoon after lunch and with clearing up afterwards. Mr Dixon said he could help set up and Mrs Whelan said she could help afterwards. Help was needed from PTA members to serve juice at the above events. Mr Dixon and Mrs Mall said they could help at both. LD/GM 6. Future Events No further fundraising events were planned this term as it was felt it was already very busy. Ideas for fund-raising events next year would be welcome. 7. Date of Next Meetings Next PTA Committee Meeting to be held on Tuesday, 3rd November, 7.30 pm in school. AGM to be held on Tuesday, 24th November, 7.30 pm in school, followed by wrapping Christmas presents for the Christmas Fair and wine and nibbles.
