Church Fun Day 2009
Community Fun Day
St John’s Church held a Community Fun Day on Sunday12th July, 2009 in and around the Church. We were blessed with good weather, so most of the activities took place outdoors. The day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all those who participated.
Many of our school children took part in an art workshop to create a decorated letter ‘C’, the initial letter of community. This letter was chosen for the school as it stands for children too. Other local groups decorated the other letters to create a mural which spells out COMMUNITY. The Community Fun Day was concluded with a Service in St John’s Church at the end of the day, when the mural was put together. It is now displayed in the Church.
Our part of the mural represents our school. The letter ‘C’ is made up of digital photographs of the many events the children take part in during the year at school. The photographs were printed small, 35 to a sheet and were glued on to form a mosaic. If you look very carefully you can see what is happening on each photograph. The background of the letter was painted to depict the school building and children playing, surrounded and supported by the ‘C’ for community.
